I've owned vehicles, both cars and motorcycles, from almost every manufacturer. The American products have always been just as reliable as there foreign counterparts. Mybe I'm just lucky, maybe not. I think that although the reality is that imports are a tad better in many areas, American manufacturers got a bad rap a long time ago that they just haven't been able to overcome even though the vehicles have gotten much better.

Sorry you're having the issues that you are, but it happens with all products from all manufacturers.........

If you don't like it then don't drive it. Buy your little japanese car and quit crying. When we all pass you on the road in bad weather, drive down a muddy trail, or haul something for you in our pickups I bet you won't complain then will ya???? Get a life man, move to Japan if you like their stuff so much.

AMERICAN PRIDE!!!!!!

The problems I'm having are with components that a monkey could engineer correctly. I think it's a serious problem when Ford can't get headlights and door locks to work correctly after only 8,000 miles. These are the facts. No wonder the stock is trading at $2 a share.
Well that sucks u are having problems but the fact of the matter is that the problems u are having are not very common for our trucks. like I said my 04 has held up great so far. Looks like if u are so bitter about your American made truck then you need to go trade it in for a Honda Ridgeline or a Mitsubishi Raider Then after that I don't want to hear any bitching about how u got layed off from your job due to our poor economy.

I have had 4 f series trucks and 1 bronco and have no serious issues. I have had minor issues, but nothing that makes me wanna . I have had to replace little things here and there but that is the norm everywhere you go and if you think you can own a vehicle w/o having to do anything with it %100 your an idiot and have no concept of reality. Hell, I had a Ford escort and an old Grenada that I drove until I had a bunch teenyboppers pull thier pos Izuzu in front of it and cut them in half killing the GRenada in the process.

Not trying to be mean, but my god there has been too much whining and crying going on around here lately and it's pathetic. It is one thing if you have a problem and ask for help, but keep the my pu*** hurts crap for somehwere else.

And as for your Chevy? Good luck with that. F-150 has been the best selling truck for decades for a reason. My three buddies with chevy and gmc their whole lives have towed/pulled me out 0 times. Can't say the same for them.

Some people are amazing! Like the guy said, if you think honda and hyundai and all those over sea names dont do warrenty work your dead wrong. Why the h e double hockey sticks do you think hyundai give 100,000 mile warrenty with every vehicle! For a while they even gave free oil changes for life! They had to bribe you to buy their vehicle. Hyundi was a crap vehicle for god knows how long. Their still around though.

Oh, about the chevy comment! HA HA HA, good luck with that, my buddy has an 08 fully loaded 4x4 and we were out at the dunes not doing anything, just driving, we had to drive around a stuck truck and when we did all of his side curtain air bags went off cause it thought it was going to roll over. Funny stuff IMO. He was so pissed he traded it in and got an FX4 like mine... (He's really rich and can afford to get rid of his vehicles as he pleases...must be nice.)

But the fact that you are that mad because your headlights arent working is funny as hell! Like the guy said, its a crap shoot, thats why every single manufacturer has warrenty!!!!! HELLO!

I never said that buying a Ford is the problem in our economy I was hinting at the fact that buying foreign vehicles is only going to hurt our economy and in the long run YOU...but apparently u didnt catch that hint. Good luck with a Chevy If u think Ford is the only vehicle that has problems then u are in for a suprise. Don't make yourself look like more of an *** by making any more ignorant comments talking down about Ford. So u have had 2 relatively minor problems with your truck and you are convinced all Fords are crap?

Just out of curiosity what were the foreign made vehicles you used to own that were so solid?

The information that I originally posted at the beginning of this thread is the truth. I posted it because people need to make important decisions when they buy a new vehicle - such as whether or not to buy the extended warranty.

I would highly recommend buying the premium care warranty for your Ford truck. You can find dealers around the country selling Ford ESP warranties at steep discounts. Definitely get one.

Not everybody is an unemployed billybob backyard mechanic with unlimited time to spare. I tried to take my 2008 F150 to the shop this weekend. I took it to 2 separate Ford dealerships and was told that they only do simple maintenance like oil changes on the weekends, so I'll have to find time during the week to have by headlight wiring system fixed.

I agree...It doesnt matter who you buy a vehicle from, an extended warrenty is an awesome thing to have!

I, like sin and the rest of the guys that kind of jumped your case was simply saying, the fact that unlike dodge, and some foreign guys, ford doesnt come with a standard 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warrenty or a lifetime powertrain (dodge) because time has proven they dont need it. Its a simple coin flip, but saying FORDs are crap is kind of dumb seeing how they are the best selling truck for a long long time, so obviously some one likes them. There is always one bad egg in the batch, which is why everyone offers extended warrenty. The truth is, extended warrenty is really a way for the Ford, Dodge, Chevy or whoever to make money because they know they have a good chance you will never use it. Its free money to them, but i still would say buy it.
