Default 2008 F150 SCREW K&N Intake

Installed it yesterday..
Install was pretty strait forward, and its supposed to add about 15.47hp @ 3829rpm.... true?? Who knows but it pulls better and the added Volume isnt to much during normal driving.. I will keep you posted..

The exhoust and tune will come eventualy.. as budget permits as for the numbers being BS...No man everything you read online is real LOL I don't expect the advertized gains but there is a differance.. you really can feel it... But again one mod at a time.. I probably will wait for the tune till the waranty is up..

I put a K&N CAI system on my 2008 screw.
but first I put the exhaust
then I put the CAI
Then I did the SCT tuned programmer

I believe that get the truck to breathe better made the programmer work better.
More air in and more exhaust out

I hate the sound of stock so the exhaust was done the first week
good sound not much power increase.

Next I recieved the intake and programmer but I put the K&N on first and tried the truck to see If I noticed the difference. Yes! I did! I drove my truck around for a little while just to feel if the in take helped. mostly at upper rpm

but the SCT X3 was the big improvement

So your intake should have made some difference
exhaust will help the intake work better though.

HP Gains from CAI's are not seen until you get in the higher RPM's...3500 and above.

Custom tuning is ESSENTIAL in juicing all you can from mods like CAI's and exhaust.

I wonder if this is so at higher altitudes? I put on a CAI just because of the thinner air at 8000 ft.

Is lean not so lean when you have less oxygen?

I have no idea what you are asking

??

I was referring to the amount of air passing the MAF doesn't increase to a beneficial point over that of the OEM intake until those higher RPM's.

for many years I have been changing the way a motor runs. If yo want to in crease power and increase the way it accels. you need to add more fuel to the engine and you need to make the engine utilize the fuel better.
Camshafts, porting, carbs, headers, Manifolds. timing chains, pistons, rods, etc. and gearing

If you add more fuel to an engine that can't use it the damn thing just boggs down at low rpm, surges and stalls. amungst other things.

Now you have the computer world.

you can do some adjustments to timing, fuel mixtures, shift points, and various other items, gear ration, tire size, Etc. through the Programmer
this change adds the addition of more fuel a better way to fire it, and allows the use of higher rpms

not only can you make changes to the computer you can also make changes to the way the air comes into the engine spacers, throttle body, Cai, Blower, Nitrios, etc. ( Some Legal Some Not) The most comon is the CAI,
You can also make a chage to the way the burned fuel or exhaust leave the vehicle. changing the exhaust can relieve back pressure and a difference in power band Cat back systems or headers

I live in california so I leave the cat in

noW I am getting lost in what I wanted to say!

minor mods do minor things to an engine. CAI and exhaust are a good start. but they are minor.
A programmer will get the most out of you CAI and Exhaust but the programmer won't work as well with out the CAI or Exhaust.

I have used the Programmer with only exhaust. it worked but with less of an increase.

Sorry if I let out to much garbage
