There is not a hood latch switch that I am aware of. I don't have a warning light for my hood either (if there would even be one). My cruise control works as it should. I solved the beeping, it was 6 honks. I got it out of valet mode and now it's back to trying to start but only cranking for a second then quiting.

When' it's trying to initiate a crank cycle, what is the factory 'security' LED doing?

Ok, sorry for going so long without updating, here is where I am currently at. There is not a hood latch switch that I know of. My cruise control also works fine. After my last post the problem had stopped. It just started back up again today. In the two weeks the problem was gone, there was no moisture outside. It had previously snowed a few days prior when I was having the issues the first time. Now, it stormed last night and we got alot of rain. When I got in my truck this morning it was acting up again. So now I'm guessing something is getting wet and goes back to normal when it dries out? But I don't know what or where. I'll try to see what the red light on my dash does when I try to use my remote start this afternoon.

Check for signs of water damage around the remote start module. Also check in your door sills these are a common spot for water. Usually from a leaky 3rd brake light. That may give you a starting place for a moisture problem. Also being a factory system there should have at least been a hood latch wire. Some people run them up under the dash or even into the engine compartment. I cant tell you for sure but I seems like to bypass this switch it was as simple as grounding that wire but I could be wrong on that. I might be completely wrong on the hood latch switch but I do know several friends who had systems and they all had it as a safety mechanism so if you're working under the hood the vehicle doesn't automatically try to start on you. Which is why its a good idea to disconnect the battery when working under the hood.

It only takes 5 or 6 connections for the remote start to work. They should be simple to trace them and verify a good connection. The bulk of them will be in the large set of wires coming down from the ignition, another to the brake, etc. Pull the plastic piece off under your steering column, then the metal plate under it. At that point, you should be able to see and trace everything.

I just installed one in my '08 F-150 2 weeks ago.

Ok, so I checked my door sills. There is some water in there, not alot, but its damp. Maybe that is the issue? I do see how water could be coming in from the top of the third break light, thoughts on the best way to seal that off?

Buy a new brake light from eBay with the new seal. That's what most of us have done. Your alternative option is find a new seal for your existing brake light.
