I also purchased a warranty and got a free truck. Mine only has 1200miles on it. I felt that it wasn't worth my time to take it to the dealer. My wife threw a fit when she seen me working on it.

Sounds like mind.... "We bought a warranty so you would stop doing that."

I just replaced the front rotors and pads on my '06 F150. I have proof the mushiness you feel is undoubtedly air in the lines. Rather than force the fluid back into the system, I opened the bleeder valve and pressed the fluid out of the caliper with a c-clamp. I always use a clear plastic hose in a plastic bottle half full of fluid as this allows you to see exactly what is going on and eliminates the risk of sucking air back into the system. In any case, the ammount of air that came out of the caliper was rediculous so I decided to press the cylinders all the way in. I installed the pads and rotors and now the difference is like night and day. My pedal is firm and I have no more spongy feel. This is a safety issue and ford should recall all of these F150s.

I thought it was just my truck with the brakes like that. I've just learned to live with it. My SO's car is an Escape and I practically send myself through the windshield the first time I hit the breaks each time I drive it.

Default Fix

I had the same problem with my 2007 XLT 5.4L a little over a year ago and I brought it to the dealership in Tucson and they bled the brakes and it solved the problem.

I have a 07 SC with the same problem. Brakes work about two inches off the floor. I did the rod in the booster thing yesterday. 1/4 turn out made the brakes lock up! With an adjustment that touchy it seems to me that, in my case, this isn't the fix. I can't get over the feeling there is air hiding in there somewhere.
