Default 2008 f150 Lariat Whinning

Hey guys,

My truck is a 2008 F150 lariat 5.4L with 127k miles. I recently noticed this whinning sound that continues to get louder. It only happens when accelerating between 40-50 mph. Anybody had this problem and fixed it? I was hoping for just a bad pulley but I figured I would hear that even in neutral, which I don't.

Thanks for any help!

Just took mine to the shop today for a whine between 50-55. I was told its the pinion gear. While your driving in that range, let go of the gas pedal. does the sound stop? , then get on it again. If the sound comes back my guess the rear end.
