2008 f150 help please
Going to go look at an f150 its a 2008 4x4 with 4.6 and has 206k on it.
Am I crazy looking to buy it with this amount of miles on it and if not
what should I look for that is notorious for being trouble? it has lived its
life in west Virginia and Ky. its a stx has manual windows and locks and
is an auto trans. Will be going to drive it tomorow. So any input would
be great thanks

The 2008 will be the 2V 4.6, so there will not be any issues with the often talked about spark plug issues. Besides, at 206K, they must have already been replaced at least once!
I always buy used; hate the depreciation I would get buying new and driving off the lot the first time.
With 206K, it would depend on the price, and remaining condition of the rest of the truck. Does the truck offer any repair history? If repairs or maintenance have been performed by a dealership, chances are that their service will show in a carfax report. Also included with a carfax would be any history of accidents. If the truck had any accident work performed, that can affect its value. Is/was your area, or previous location of this truck driven in a salt street (winter)? The frames on Fords are strong (boxed frames), but salt and rust can take their toll.
If in doubt to the engine or drivetrain, have it checked by another mechanic, outside from the person/dealership/lot you are buying it from. This will cost you, but well worth it for piece of mind.
While the engine can go well beyond 200K with little issues, the transmission can be another large expense. Has it been maintained? Has the fluid and filter been changed at decent intervals?

bucko thanks for the input. the car fax showed one accident but still able to drive had front and rear damage but looks good so far. I will be getting my hands on it in the morning. car fax also showed like 8 services reported the salesman didnt read them to me because i had only asked about accidents but does have fax report. So you wouldn't be afraid of the miles then?

Get under it to check for leaks and drive it... Make sure it shifts smooth, 4wd works, check for rust. That's a lot of miles, so it better be priced accordingly to consider it though. That's pretty high mileage for the year, but it all comes down to how it was maintained.
