2008 F150 5.4L, hard transmission downshift
I have the above vehicle in supercrew size. It only has 26k miles. Occasionally it downshifts hard from second to first. Of course Ford dealer cant replicate it and could find no TSB on the issue.
Anyone else having same problem or found a solution?
Reading posts on earlier F150's indicated similar problems with the PCM.

search on here for "transmission flare" it usually happens around 25mph... might be what your experiencing... if you have a warranty they can update your transmission software to eliminate this, i had it done on mine and shifts great now...

Hi, I have the same problem with my 2008 F150 XLT Supercrew. Already had it in and had new download for slipping around 28-30. Now I have the
hard downshift at 26 mph, its at the shop now, they say its ok? Can anyone let me know what to do next?

My 2008 F150 demostrated simular symptoms and was corrected with updated SW.
20-25mph light throttle application vehicle under slight load or going around turns would get a shift flare from 2-3rd gear.
