Default 2008 F150 5.4 that wants to knock & stall when I come to a stop or neutral

I have a 2008 F150 5.4 that wants to knock & stall when I come to a stop or neutral. It runs fine while driving. The oil seems to be flowing back as additive to thicken the oil helps & heavier oil helps? Also oil if is low 1/2 litre it does this. A real nusience. I have had the cam phasers changed, timing chains & oil pump changed. Now I'm being told new motor. What can cause the oil to flow back in the motor?? Oil pressure drops when it does this?

Moved to 2004 - 2008 and changed title to something more descriptive.

What brand oil filter you have installed and why do you need to add oil all the time ?

I am not sure why it requires 1/2 litre approx half way between 5000km oil changes. Not sure what kind of filter my mechanic uses but have asked him & waiting for an answer

Get down under the truck and take a look at it. And / or take a picture and post it.

I have never heard of this but I assume will stop the oil from flowing back? It sounds really rough when I start it for the first 5 seconds ( I assume until the oil flows ) & then settles down. Also runs good when cold until oil warms up.

Your oil shouldn't be flowing back anyway because the engine is on and the pump is constantly pushing more up to the top. The anti-drainback valve is for when the engine is off, so the rest of the oil doesn't drain back into the pan.

are all the motorcraft filters anti drain back? or do you need to specify that at the dealer?
