Funny thing is, my service manager did not even know about the TSB. I called and he looked it up on his computer while we were on the phone and found it. Don't let them give you that ole "That's just how they shift" line. If the dealer I bought it from had not been so nice and apologetic, I definitely would have called another one. I suppose that maybe they were really busy and could have just missed it. The manager even told me that one of his techs had an '08 with the same problem and it had not been reprogrammed either. Surely they would have done their own trucks first if they did know about it. No telling how many people don't do any research and just take their dealer's word for it.

Thumbs down 08 F150 Tranny

I had the same problem as NOEL72, at speeds of 70-80mph on the highway the truck keeps hesitating, feels like a tranny problem but dealer said no. The engine light used to kick on and threw a code saying the engine was misfiring and they fixed what they thought the problem was but its still doing it. I have brought this truck to a dealership 8 different times and no one can figure it out. Any advice before I drive it off a cliff?

Default Another Transmission Problem

I have a 2008 F150 XLT - just bought it this past November. Around 3,000 miles started experiencing shifting problems from 1st to 2nd gear (very irritating as I live in WV and drive across mountains with sharp turns everyday). Took it in to the dealer this morning and the service guy tells me about an update on the computer. I scheduled an appointment to have it taken care of next week. Hopefully, like others have stated, it will fix the problem. My main concern is this... I know Ford is not in the greatest financial situation right now (but better than others)... why has nothing been posted about this other than on owner blogs. My dealer said he has reset at least 20 trucks in the past few months alone... very disappointed with Ford and my Dealer on this one.

Angry Hunting

Not sure about other year models but I know that the 08 has that problem and you are correct that it is a FORD issue. These trans. want to do what some call hunting or wondering. Simply put the thing is trying to find what poistion the trans should need to be in. The thing will do as you have said, just go to a nueral position. Re flash will do the trick. After market tuner will do the trick even better. They have put to much power management on the new model trucks and the trans. is the weak point. If all the power management is removed you will be replacing the trans.

Technical Service Bulletin. Do a search for Ford F-150 TSB AND RECALLS. This is the problems that Ford will admit to have.

Default Reflash

Took my truck to the dealer... he had it for about an hour. Ran the reset and everything seems to be fine... hopefully it won't need it again.

Default 2008 F150 lemons

Good luck... They have tried to re flash my transmission twice now. I've been to the dealer 6 times. It's just a band aid. "feels fixed" then time goes by and it comes back.

Someone should file a class action case.
