So update to this:

I installed the new transmission range sensor. It didn't fix my problem at all.

4wd hi light is on for all but one setting; 4wd lo

so 2wd, neutral and 4wd hi----4wd hi light is on
4wd lo--lo light is on.

Well crap.. only 2 other things it could be the SOTF switch itself or the IWE solenoid. If you have a multi meter you could pop out the SOTF switch and read 12VDC on the positions.

Lemme give more info and maybe it can help with diagnosis.
My brake light and abs light are almost always on (sometimes they go off), cruise control wont work (most likely cause of the braking issue). I read it could be a fuse problem but i checked and its not that. The 4wd light issue is another and also....
Sometimes when i'm in 4wd hi, it seems as though one wheel is locked while other isn't. Once I put it back into 2wd, it seems as one wheel stick in 4wd occasionally. I didn't think this and the light were related because the light was an issue for almost a year before the actual 4wd became a problem. Could it be the abs tone ring? A vacuum issue?

I asked you that before if you were sure the truck was coming out of 4H ... you told me yes ! Have the ABS codes read and go from there.. you may just need a new IWE solenoid to solve the light issue or a IWE is not venting properly.

U2023 is 4WD fault and the C1297 is the right front wheel speed sensor..which can cause the 4WD problem...I suggest you replace or at least check the connection/condition of the R/F ABS sensor.

Ok, so I changed the wheel speed sensor and my abs code cleared off.

The 4wd problem still persists as does a dashboard brake light being on.

Brake fluid levels are good although it is old. No clue about the 4wd. Is it possible to have some sort of wiring wrong ?
