Default 2008 F-150 Automatic Climate Control Issues

My 08 has been at the dealer four seperate times all for a malfunctioning auto climate control. The past two times the dealer has installed a new head unit and this past visit they performed the TSB on the blend door plunger. Yesterday morning, I had the AC in manual mode set at 65 set to come out the dash vents, the temperature gauge I had put in the vent just to the right of the steering wheel peaked at 142 then settled between 100-115. This past Friday I started the "Lemon Law" process. I know of one other person experiencing the exact same problem that I am having and I am quite sure there are more out there. Ford engineers and the dealer techs are clueless to the to the cause and even more clueless as to the cause. Good luck.

Default Yep

Ya they have had to replace my head unit twice. Both out of warranty only by a couple months and both at an unbearable cost (considering i have only 19K on the truck now, it was less when it happened) to me but what can you do you need the A/C!

My 1st post but this is a very common issue with these and expeditions, unless you have more than like 15 visits to the dealer on this 1 problem, lemon law is a waste of time at this point, ford is suppose to finally have a fix to this issue. FWIW- my 08 auto climate isn't perfect either, sometimes when I put the vent on 65, it feels way hotter but shortly after it cools down. I am just going to try to wait it out until they for sure have the fix, I hate for anyone to work on my cars. In fact if the part isnt too much, I will just buy it and swap it out. I know that sounds weird for a new $30k truck, but I hear all sorts of horror srotires about sweaking dashes after these are replaced and other issues too.

YMMV
PS-I hang out on f150online.com too, a sister site maybe?

Default auto temp

I was thinking of adding the auto temp feature to my truck... maybe I'll just keep the manual... has there been any issues with the manual set up not working correctly... I've only got 3400 miles on my 08 screw

I too have the erratic heat issue. Only setting the temp to 60 degrees will cool things down. I also have a ticking in the center stack. I'm guessing it's related.

GOOD LUCK with getting that fixed properly. I had my F-150 at Woltz&Wind Ford in Pittsburgh, PA five times and there incompetent service department was unable to resolve this issue. I took my truck back to Mt. Orab Ford for repairs which they did correctly the first time without any hassles. Ford Motor was kind enough to give me at no charge a 5yr/75000 Premium Care ESP at no charge for my troubles. Not only was Woltz&Wind Ford unable to repair my truck, but upon actual repairs it appeared that they had not done anything except bill Ford for warranty work. The dealer that did fix my truck informed Ford that parts replaced were factory installed at the time of my truck being built. Again, good luck and I hope your dealer fixes your truck.
