Default 2008 4x4 (on the floor) not engaging

Hello. Searched through some topics but didn't find any exactly like my issue, but i'm sure I overlooked it. I have a 2008 extended cab 4x4 on the floor.

Anyways, took my truck in for an alignment and had the place check my 4x4 while they were doing it because I felt like it hadn't been engaging. What they found was that the 4x4 is working in transfer case but driver axle is spinning inside hub.

I'm good enough mechanically to fix most things myself, however, I have no experience with 4 wheel drives to this point. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

Sounds to me like it's time to change out your iwe's (integrated wheel ends) basically your 4wd hubs. Check out the link. It should answer all your questions and help diagnosis your issues https://www.f150forum.com/f72/how-di...m-esof-186872/

Thanks for the helpful link. I also found some useful videos for anyone interested, attached at the end of this post.

So I did some diagnosing and found the I don't have any vacuum (suction) coming out of my IWE Solenoid. But also, like I said in my first post, the driver axle is spinning inside the hub when in 2wd, and 4wd. If the hub isn't getting any vacuum than it shouldn't spin, from what I understand. The passenger side axle doesn't spin as easy as the driver side (which does so effortlessly), but still can if pushed hard enough (in another words it isn't locking).

From these findings it would seem I need the following:
1. IWE Soleniod
2. IWE Actuators (for each side)

Am I missing anything? Thanks for the help!

There should also be a vacuum checking switch similar to this:
Amazon Amazon

This is a cover over the solenoid that helps prevent water in the system:
Amazon Amazon

Those may not be the right #s for your truck, those are just the ones from mine.
