Default 2007 FX2 prices??

Guys-

i need help making a purchase. Im looking for a truck and am in a toss up between a 07-08 tundra or f-150. i know opinions here are going to be biased, but i want to hear them! if you had a choice to buy either, would you stay with the f-150?

ive found a 2007 fx2 18k miles on it, black leather sport seats, etc etc. 21,500$ is that a bit steep? KBB is saying 17xxx$

finding a 07-08 tundra with the same options has put me in the 25xxx$ price range so i am leaning towards this fx2... just want to make sure the price and truck is right for me.

thanks ahead of time for your help!

I would seriously consider getting a new one as with some of the rebates they are offering now, you can get helluva deals. Few members here just got new ones at wicked low prices, trustingly they stop by and tell you how they did. I would but my truck is 15 years old. :-)

thanks for the reply guys. i didnt even consider new as ive never bought a new vehicle. (hate the 20% loss when you drive off the lot) did you guys get those deals paying outright for them, or did they take the 8-12k off for you because you financed through the dealer?

Default 2007 FX2 prices

I just bought a 2008 Super crew XLT. Obviously any concept of what you got off of sticker is based on how realistically you are valuing your trade-in. My 2000 Dodge Dakota Quadcab had a NADA retail of about $8,000, but I believe that the wholesale was about $4,000. With the trade I got just over $17,000 off of the $38,800 sticker. So in my mind at least, they actually gave me about $13,000 off sticker and $4,000 for my trade. I was required to finance a minimum of $7,000 with Ford in order to get $1,000 of the rebates, but I paid that off on the first payment date. Other than the $7,000 minimum financing, the rest of the deal was not dependent upon how it was purchased. I think that amount off sticker is probably about par for F-150s in the $37,000 to $40,000 sticker range (i.e. I don't claim to have made some fantastic deal or anything). They might start dealing a little better soon since the 2009s are out now and given the crisis that the manufacturers are in with sales down 40%, however, the 2008 selections may get tighter, especially in the supercrews or in some of the less generic configurations. At least around Pittsburgh, PA extended cab XLTs are all over the lots, but others are a bit tighter to find.

i honestly was going to purchase used as well until the fiance said no she wanted a new truck....... so we went and to my astonishment we got a hell of a deal. i got the exact truck i wanted, color, trim level, extras for about 2k more than i could have gotten a two or three year old used one for. i like knowing im the only one whose driven the truck and maintained it well. you also get the warranty.

and to answer your question, nope i financed through my credit union.
sticker price: 33,000
ford cash back: -8000
dealer reductuion: -4000
trade in value: -6000 trade in on my jeep was like 10,800 i got 12,500
plus tax/other bs: 1800
cash down: -4500
finaced: 12,300

Funny about that buying used concept. I've always bought new vehicles and I'll tell you why. First, getting a good clean low mile vehicle where I live is always hard. Second, if a vehicle has low miles, I wonder why the person traded it. Third, they usually are fairly close in price to a new vehicle and with the lower interest rates on new ones (often 0 or 1 percent if you have good credit) the new ones work out better as you don't have the maintenance issues for the first 20 to 30k. Add to that if you keep the vehicle to say 100k how much "life do you get". If I guy with 8 miles, I basically get the full 100k out of the vehicle, if I buy with 30k on it, that's only 70k of "life" left. (now I use those numbers as an example)

In other words, the math just works out better in the long run for me with a new vehicle.

As for Ford vs. Toyota. If you want a TRUCK buy a Ford, if you want well something that looks like a truck then get something else. Also, if you go to Fords web site and look at the truth about trucks you'll be surprised at what a joke the Toyota "truck" is. I've always been biased, but seeing some of the poor designs of the Toyota, I can't say anything nice about it. But like you said, I'm probably very biased.

I just bought my 2008 F150 FX4 and they took 10 off the sticker the second I walked in the door. Got them to throw in a full blown alarm, remote start, kill switch, tint, gap coverage, 750000 mile warranty, and still paid 27....I had 6000 for a trade in, after ttl i paid 23. Put 5 down, payments are in the low 300's. Go new buddy...Truck only had 27 miles on it.

After I bought mine I took my brother in law in. He ended up buying the Fx2 sport. He owed 11000 still on his old truck After all was said and done he paid 28. His payments are 450 but keep in mind how much he still owed on his old truck.

Both were crew cabs :-)

Oh, and I get a $100 "bird dog" check from ford for bringing them a customer. So if you are in the El Paso are...Shoot me a line, ill put you in touch with sales rep and you can make me some money
