Default Heat Control 2008 F150

Hi I'm new here.
I have a 2008 F150 with manual climate controls. I can't get the heat do anything other than full on or off. If I put the temp dial in the 9 o'clock position it blasts hot air. When I move it to the 8 o'clock position it blasts cold/vent air. Is this a common issue? I would love to hear how this can be fixed.

Mine does that too, somebody posted a TSB for it a while back. I'm gonna have them take a look when I have it in the shop next.

I have the same problem as well. Matter of fact, Sunday night, it wouldn't even blow cold. It stayed HOT! Yesterday, it was back to doing it's usual thing.

Default same thing here

My 08 Super crew just started doing the same thing. Either really hot or cold no in between. Gonna call Ford next week I guess but seems to be a problem with a lot of units.

Probably the blend door actuator. Mine seemed to vary temp with speed, took it to the dealer and they replaced the blend door motor/actuator for me and the problem went away. They also replaced the blower motor...cause the service guy thought he heard something...I figure it was a slow day. Don't know the TSB number but a search will likely find a thread on it.

Me too............ Mine is doing the same thing. Never get the dial past 9 o'clock because you will roast but move it slightly towards 8 oclock and you will freeze.

Just drove it 280 miles today and the wife was moving the dial about every 3 minutes.

I had the same problem, bring it to the dealer, they will fix it for free. This is known common problem. I bought my 2008 in jan 08 , had this fixxed in march 08, no problems since, working perfect.

found this on another F150 site

Ford has released their fix for this problem.
The latest "fix" put out from Ford is a revised blend door motor, for the issue where the A/C quits blowing cold and switches to warm on its own, then back to cold.
TSB 08-23-6. Some 2005-2008 F-150 and 2006-2008 Mark LT vehicles equipped with Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) may exhibit intermittent periods of warm air output in Auto mode with the temperature control set between 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit (18-22 degrees Celsius). Some 2005-2008 F-150 vehicles equipped with Electronic Manual Temperature Control (EMTC) may exhibit periods where the cabin temperature cannot be maintained with the control ****. Some customers may also complain the heat cannot be reduced without rotating the control **** well into the Cool/Blue range. The condition may be caused by a faulty temperature blend door actuator. NOTE:THE IGNITION KEY

MUST BE OFF WHEN REPLACING THE ACTUATOR. ENERGIZING THE ACTUATOR BEFORE INSTALLATION ON THE HEATING VENTILATION AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) CASE WILL CAUSE THE PART TO BECOME MISS POSITIONED AND CORRECT ORIENTATION WILL BE LOST. INCORRECT ACTUATOR OPERATION MAY RESULT
For those that are out of warranty and have this problem, the part is around $35 from the dealer. I have not done this TSB yet to find out if it actually works, but I'll be putting one on my Dad's truck soon so I'll let yall know if it works
