2007 F150...lash adjusters 2nd time
Have an 07 f150 FX4. Ford dealer replaced both side lash adjusters in June of 2013. Developed ticking again within last month or so. Took back to the Ford dealer and they replaced all the left side lash adjusters again. Why would they go bad again within a year?? Ford changes the oil on a regular basis 5,000 miles or less everytime. Actually its been changed in under 5,000 miles everytime. So why again are the left side lash adjusters bad?

Are they using the "recommended" 20w oil? I have found that these engines run quieter and longer on 30w. Just my .02

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
The lash adjusters could definitely benefit from the stronger oil film at longer drive cycles, elevated temperatures, and even the possibility of less aeration of the oil at higher crank speeds.. There is plenty of points outside of lubricity, wear, and flow to argue the idea of switching to 5w-30 over 5w-20.
Here is an MIT thesis on lubrication and engine oil aeration: http://dspace.mit.edu/bitstream/hand.../166145859.pdf
It's a bit boring, but it does explain a few good points.
