Bought an F-150. I'm in the middle of rebuilding the motor, looks pretty sweet. I only bought it for $2500. 188k. After working on the motor for this long with my dad, I have been thinking about surprising him and letting him keep it. He drives a POS 2001 F150 XLT. It's misfiring, has an exhaust leak, the interior is falling apart, bunch of problems, and I think the tranny is going. 215k miles, like damn. I really don't know what to do. I like the truck but today wAs his birthday, he turned 69, and I think it's about time he has a nice truck to drive to work everyday. Something comfortable and reliable. I'm really in a pickle, you guys opinion would really help out. Thanks. -Brandon

I understand you want to keep the truck..But I would suggest you give it to your father as a present. Think of all the things your dad has done for you over the years. All the long hours he has worked to provide for his family. Sacrificing things he wanted or needed but didn't get because he thought of his family first and made sure they had the very best that he could afford. Fix the truck and give it to him. You only get one dad..you won't regret giving up the truck, and it will mean the world to him because it came from his son. He will be so proud of you.

That put a big smile on my face. Glad I'm not the only one that thinks it's a good idea. Thank you for that. I'll end up giving it to him, then taking his.

then maybe you could spend some more quality time with the old man rebuilding the old truck? Sounds like a great idea.

That I will probably do. It didn't seem quite right to me. The son has the better newer truck, and the dad has the old crap truck. Doesn't feel right

This is something I always wanted to do with my dad but as time went on, his mobility became worse and driving was not an option for him anymore.

You're dad will be absolutely delighted. Good on you Brandon.

I'd have to give it up too. Get that motor fixed up and give your old man the keys, be sure to say i'm gonna need yours in return for a while. Ya gotta get home somehow lol. But on a serious note find another one blown up for that cheap and keep it for yourself. That truck should make it to 400k no problem.

I'd go ahead and give him the keys and say you couldn't finish it in time for a bday gift, but it's your's when its done. Idk tho could be a christmas present haha

It's definitely a great thing to do. I'm definitely going to do it. I think I'll finish the motor, roll around in it until Christmas and then put a nice big bow on top lol.

Just think about it this way. You won't be disappointed when you see the look on his face when you give him that truck! Doubt you will ever look back and say "man I wish i wouldn't have given him that truck

Very cool thing. let us know how it turns out.
