My truck is a 2007 fx4 super crew cab with 3.73 I had to use 4 wheel drive this morning to get out of my driveway and the 4 wheel drive worked this afternoon when I got home I tryed to back into my parking spot and the 4 wheel drive quite working and is making a grinding noise now and it acts like it wants to lock in but it dosent

When was the last time you had the transfer case flushed? I found this issue too then flushed it and went away. Could even try reversing straight for 300 meters or so.

It could be a multitude of things... Module, Linkage, fluid... No codes being set though?

I went out and checked the vacuum lines and they seem good now it grinds even when in 2 wheel drive

Look at the IWE solenoid mounted on the firewall behind the battery...If it is not the newer version with the rain guard on it replace it.. You need to troubleshoot with a Vacuum pump at the IWE’s themselves. This will tell you where the vacuum loss is. Vacuum holds your wheel end dis-engaged...
