Realized today that I've been slacking on changing my fuel filter... changed it out today and cut the old one open.. you could say it was slightly past due

I just changed mine in my 2004 Ford F-150. The stuff coming out of it looked as if the filter inside was disintegrated and coming out in small particles. Looked nothing like clean fuel. You got me interested now. I just might go dig in the trash to find it and cut it open....

Actually that doesn't look too bad. I've seen a lot worse.

I usually stay up to date on all maintenance. It's got about 284k on it and I haven't had trouble other than an occasional coil pack. I stay on top of these things but I honestly couldn't say when the last time it was changed was..

The fuel coming out of this one literally almost black. It was horrible, the picture I posted of the filter makes it look better than it really is. Truck is a little more responsive now too!
