2007 5.4 runs great until it gets warm,the engine at idle starts shuttering and missing bad, sounds like a diesel i cleaned the maf sensor with the correct cleaner and cleaned the throttle body, still doing it anyone have any suggestions

Sounds like low oil pressure to me a common issue with 5.4. If you check with gauge should be 25psi min at hot idle when they start dropping below twenty psi then your cam phasers won't hold which changes timing which makes it start running bad. Then you give it a little throttle and it will smooth back out whne you get oil volume going.

thats what a mechanic told me today he said i needed to change the tensioners and guides does that sound right 1200.00

Does the 2007 f150 5.4 have cam phasers

Yes one on each side. Price wise I,m not positive on.

I really hope that fixes it for you usually when this happens its the death rattle. I would if it doesn't fix it your not paying so they better be positive.
