Default 2007 4.6 XLT idling issue

I have been noticing some idling issues when at a stop and in gear. Not very bad but sometimes more noticeable than others. I cleaned out the TBI recently but haven't felt a change. I do not get an error code so I don't think it is serious. So now I'm thinking it could be the EGR valve. As you see it looks pretty well rusted up. Now I'm no expert mechanic but how difficult a job would it be to replace it? I am worried all the rusted fasteners would be a challenge. I also see some of the fasteners are going to be difficult to get at. Anyway I could test the valve without removing it? It may still be working although it looks pretty nasty.

Use some penetrating oil before trying to remove them. A wire brush also helps expose the edges of the fasteners for a more secure fit of a socket. Not specific to f150s, but here's a good video showing how to clean and check for a bad egr

I ask because the EGR don't even start to work until the engine reaches operating temp. May be a good call to change it and agree with Nutkase... hit all that with some lub and wire brush or its all gonna snap on you.

Thanks. I'll probably do that soon.
