Default 2007 2wd f150 4.2l review

Hi all, I have had my truck for a few months now it is a 2wd, 4.2l, 5speed. I was a little worried at first when I saw how low the towing and payload rating were, but after hauling a ton of river rocks and a few tons of wood. I can say the truck handles great and even with 2000lb plus in the bed. I read some review on line of people saying this engine was a dog and had no power. I have no Idea what they are talking about the truck has plenty of power.

Not sure if ever want to put 2000lbs in the bed of my 4.2 with a 5 speed. I do like my truck and have had it for 8 years since new.

I can't agree that the truck has plenty of power. It's adequate for normal use but for heavy loads or towing anything heavy, it's has a tough time.

It's a solid trouble free engine though and that's what I like best.

Even give the 4.6 V8 a try and it'll make the 4.2 feel really sluggish.

True, but its a V6 not a V8 I'm pretty happy with the power. It beets the old farm truck with a 350 I was driving a round. The 4.2l hauls as good as the Chevy 4.3l and my clapped out 350. It’s not a fast truck that’s for sure, but it seems like it well be very reliable.

Reliable is correct. You really shouldn't see many issues at all.

the 4.2 with a 5 speed is the definition of a work truck. Those little 6's can haul their weight in gold. I have yet to see a negative thing about that engine and tranny combo.
