When I picked up my truck I was told by the salesman and the manager that my truck had the 320 HP engine (the E85). So what you're saying seems to match what they said. In any case, between the power and the gearing, it seems to run nice. What amazes me is that I've never had a vehicle that didn't get a little stronger once it broke in (usually around 5000 miles). If this one does that, I'm really going to have a hard time keeping my speed down and not getting into trouble with Johnny Law!

The 04 through 08 F150s are rated at 300 HP at the crank.....If the newer F150s are rated at 310-320 at the crank I think whats being pointed out is that aside from different design traits, a stronger engine wasn't really a priority for the 09 and therefore no one owning a 04 through 08 F150 should be too dissapointed thinking they are missing out on a ton of new power in the new trucks compared to the older models.

For all it is worth, I've owned an 05 which was a total slug and an 07, and now an 08 which are like night and day compared to the 05 ( all 5.4 litre ). I was told by a speed shop here in Michigan (Livernois Motorsport) that the throttle plate did not open all the way during full throttle, while the 05 was on a chassis dyno (did it for giggles and it was free, by the way 203hp at rr whls). I was also told it was that way to save the drive line. I turned that lease in, and got my 07, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Total new experiance. Now I OWN an 08, and am really enjoying the same power as the 07. I was told later Ford reprogrammed the truck for all the horsepower that is advertised for in 07 to present (they fixed weak link). Even with the 3:55 gear on both XLT'S, they'll break the tires loose out of the hole. The 05 with 3:73's (FX4) would not get out of it's own way. This year I want to put the 08 on a dyno and see what the difference is. Just though I would pass that along.

So basically the same power/torque all around for the 04-08 5.4s compared to the new engine.....Makes me feel better, I like the 04-08 body style and if the power is similar then I am very comfortable with keeping my 04 for years to come

So why did you go from an 05 to an 07 to an 08? Seems like a waste of time and money IMO...

Mine is a 08 5.4 ffv with 5600 miles im very happy with the power it seems to run stronger every time i drive it.That said i know ford left alot of untapped power in the pcm.sct3 custom tunes are on the way.Its to bad we have to pay more to see the full potential of this engine we all payed extra for at the dealer.I know ford did it to cover there *** with warratys
