Can someone please give me the size for a 2006 XLT 5.4 oil drain bolt size. I need to borrow a metric socket from a friend. Afraid I'm going to strip it with just a adjustable wrench. Trying to change to oil and it doesn't look like its going to be easy to get to the filter, any tips? Thanks-

I just use my hand on the oil filter. I have a filter wrench but it really sucks to get in there. I prefer to just giver hell on the filter by hand until it comes off. Wrapping it in a towel sometimes help. A few cuss words help too.

Haha. I'm gonna check out the Mac filter cup as posted above because it might make life easier.

There are a lot more affordable options than the Mac filter cup wrench, mine was less than $10 at the local home farm auto type store

Channel lock pliers always work when the filters stuck good.... Mildly crush them on to the filter and turn it off..
Otherwise:
A nice rubber palmed glove on your hand should give you the good grip you need to turn it off.... I use denim rags from old jeans for oil changes..

If you do buy a tool exclusively for oil filters, then make it a strap wrench..
