2006 F150 XL Cabin Light Shenanigans
What's up with this cabin light and bed light business?
I want the interior lights to stay off unless I turn them on.
I want the dash panel brightness to stay at maximum at all times when the vehicle lights are on, and dark at all other times (day mode vs night mode, basically).
Symptoms:
1) When I turn off the truck, the interior cabin light comes on, as does the truck bed light and they seem to stay on for some time. I don't want this to happen.
2) When I open the passenger side door, the interior lights and truck bed lights come on, but when I open the driver side door, the cabin light does not come on (only the truck bed light). I want the bloody lights to stay off unless I turn them on myself.
The point is, I want to be able to work on the truck with the doors open without having to worry about draining the battery. Also, it would be nice to be able to turn the truck bed light on and off by my own choice. I am willing to install switches if necessary, but is there a better way to control this?
