Default 2006 F150 Tranny Trouble

Hi All,

I have a problem that I am hoping someone can assist with. I have an 06 F150 FX4 4WD with just about 25k miles and the transmission just started acting up. Problem occurs after descending any hill in low gear....once I get on the flat the transmission goes crazy. If I come to a stop and begin pulling off, the truck revs out (as if in neutral) then kicks into gear and takes off!

Just got a quote from a mechanic to repair the problem...$250 in parts and over $1,300 in labor!! Very surprising for an 06 with very low miles. Before this I had a 99 F150 with over 60k miles and never had any trouble.

Any advise, guidance or similar horror story would be welcomed.

Thanks.

Julien

is it out of warranty? cus it being an 06 and 25k on it you should still be covered by warranty take it to a dealer.

No warranty...truck was exported outside of the US. Mechanic said transmission was bad...that's his explaination.

That's not a good enough answer for someone to work on my truck... Go somewhere else and get a second opinion.

^^^ X2

You wouldn't let a surgeon operate on you with that kind of answer.
(I hope)

Get another opinion for sure...one with a little more detail preferably.

You have every right to ask and receive an explaination as to what (specifically) is wrong with your transmission. If the shop/mechanic cannot or is unwilling to provide this information, move on to another shop.
Are you and the truck overseas now? There should be Ford dealerships abroad, depending upon where you are of course.

In any event, move on to another shop. That's way too much money to shell out without an explaination.

The comparison of your experience to the surgery was a good one; made me laugh!
