2006 F150 Lariat Tach problem
I have a 2006 F150 Lariat 4x4 CrewCab with a tachometer problem. With ignition off the tach needle rests near the 1k mark. At idle the tach needle is near the 2k mark and with acceleration it increases with a normal response. The gauge appears to be indicating a 1k high reading consistently. Is there a DIY fix for this? All other dash lights and gauges are reading correctly. Thanks for your ideas!

You can try doing a Gauge Sweep to see if that helps.
Since you have a Lariat, you'll need to follow these steps:
1. Put the key in the ignition (don't turn it yet)
2. Hold down both the Setup and Reset buttons
3. Turn the key to the ON position
4. You'll see the word "TEST" appear on the info screen, so you can then let go of the buttons
5. Use the Reset button to go through the menu. One of the first things that happens is the Cluster Sweep.
You can also go through all the other different data while you're at it. There's somewhere around 30-40 different features that'll all show up on that little screen.
Hopefully that'll help your issue.
