7 quarts Motorcraft 5w-20 OEM Syn Blend
DO NOT USE THAT OIL! Read this thread: https://www.f150forum.com/f4/5w-30-o...d-idea-130457/

Ford only uses that thin oil to get better gas mileage but it will hurt your engine. Use Mobile 1 5W30 full synthetic.

I just bought a 2008 Crew 4x4 and I am slowly working my way through maintenance of all fluid changes and similar. Sounds like you are on the right track for all the same stuff I thought would be good to do. I will second changing the PS fluid, it took care of my whine in cold weather and is very easy to do. As far as tranny fluid flush, I followed a project found on hear that involves adding a addition small filter in line and it allows you to change out almost all of the fluid. After doing so my truck shifts super smooth, I didn't realize a problem before doing it but after I sure noticed a difference. That being said if I were to do it all over I would not add the external filter I would just do what I always have in the past a pan drop/filter change and add a drain to the pan and change fluid a couple more times.

I opted to go with the 5-20 motorcraft but there is a constant debate on this forum and others as to which is best, I think in the future I may actually mix it 5-20 and 5-30 (5qt jug of one and 2qt of the other depending on the season)

Explain?

If you are refering to an automatic transmission flush, then I would disagree; getting ALL the old fluid out and replaced with new fluid will require a flush. The good transmission shops will do this on a higher mileage transmission only if they first inspect the transmission, test drive it, and determine if its best to simply drop the pan and give you about 5 to 6 quarts, verses an entire flush (what I prefer if the transmission is healthy).

Look, you can do whatever you want but the reason Ford changed to this light weight oil for to meet CAFE fuel economy standards for the US Government. Not because it's the best for your engine.
