Default 2006 F150 Fx4

OK I am the proud owner of a new 2006 F-150 FX4 that has those half doors that open also so I think its a super crew. Not really sure, I do know that I have a 5.4L 4-speed automatic thing and it is 4x4 which is cool. Anyway, I want to get a 6" suspension lift and I was told by a company that does lifts that with my truck and its brake pads that since they are so big I had to use 20" rims for the 35x12.50 tires I want. If that is the case which is not big deal what are some good wheels and tires to look at. Though me wanting a lift is purely for that nice aggresive look and unfortunetly would see much more pavement than off-road. I have roughly 5 grand to put into this adventure and I am asking for some peoples best advice to make my truck look nice.

Thanks

You probably have an extended cab.

Do you know what manufactorer you want for your lift? If you dont know yet, I would recomend Fabtech.

Wheels & Tires: You dont need 20" rims but you more than likely will need atleast a 18" rim, altho a 17" will work but then you have to find the PERFECT backspacing. What type of tire do you want? A real aggresive looking tire (M/T) or a nice looking tire with better road manners (A/T).

I guess the extended cab or crew cab or super crew or whatever else they are called dont really matter. I know that it came with 20" wheels or rims as I call them but I have a 6-135mm lug thing as I have been researching on the internet. I looked at the Fabtech 6" suspension and I would like to get tires that would work off road if I went that route but will still give me a comfortable ride and not wear out as much on the roadway. I try to only look at radial type tires that have that sort of mean look. I just got off the phone with another company that said that my truck has bigger than normal brakes so I still would need 20" wheels so my braking would not be screwed up. But when I look at wheels and tires I know what a 20" wheel is but some sites ask for wheel width. What wheel width should I be looking for with a 35x12.50R20 tire. I need to goto college and learn more about automotive stuff.

Do you have any pics?

I have a crew cab(or supercrew. which ever you prefer) so look at my gallery and see if you have that, altho im pretty sure you have a extended cab.

This is the first time ive ever heard of larger brakes on our trucks, but if want 20"s anyway it really doesnt matter.

Since you want an aggresive tire with good on-road manners i would get the Toyo M/T (<clicky).

Have you looked at rims yet?

Welcome to the board. I would look into some wheels like these. They are piptastic IMO.

well i had looked at those tires from the top gun customz website and thought that they were pretty neat. at one point i was looking at the MT baja claw radials until i heard they wear out rather quickly. it seems as though it is hard to find a radial tire in the 35x12.50R20 catagory. But those toyo tires I have noted because they are an option. Someone said here in my office that my truck has an off road package that is why I got bigger brakes. who knows..... I would like to not have to go with 20" wheels due to the fact they are more expensive but if I have no other choice then I will have to deal with it.

Your truck differs from mine in that you have the 4 complete size doors where as i only have the 2 half size doors. I dont have any pictures of my truck yet simply because I am trying to leave my love for my car.

Yea Claws will wear out rather quickly.

The FX4 is the offroad package, it has skidplates and other things that make it more offroad minded.

Im still confused about this bigger brakes issue that you have.

Ok you definetly have an Extended Cab, similar to the truck above.

What color?
