Now I have some weird whine noise that can primarily be heard intermittently while driving at slow speeds. The whine responds to small changes when depressing the throttle. It is almost like I have to be going the right speed to get it to happen. I cannot get the truck to make the sound while parked. I dont know how it is related to the IWE, hub assembly replacement or transfercase work, but I didnt have it before I went to the shop. Maybe the mechanic didnt install something right?

Sounds like the start of another wild goose chase
Is the whine when you're in 4WD? If you're driving in 4WD on pavement (try to avoid that), you are hearing mechanical stress noises in the drivetrain. Slower speeds allow you to hear that (due to less road noise).

No, I am not driving around in 4WD. From a diagnosis standpoint, I'm just saying I have the squeal in both 4WD and 2WD.

What it could be is the IWE solenoid...mounted on the firewall behind the battery... does the 4X4 light come on when you switch to 4H ?

"I replaced the IWE 4WD vacuum solenoid with the new version which did not solve the problem."

Well my 4x4 works now, but the whining noise I had last week lead to the transmission going out over the weekend. I never had any issues with it until yesterday. The truck shifted hard one time while towing my quad when getting up to speed on the highway. Didnt think too much about it and everything sounded fine until I got to a stop sign and had a horrible grinding noise in the transmission. 10 min later of trying to diagnose the grinding noise, I got "TRANS FAULT" and blinking "O/D OFF" light. I limped it over to the parking lot and got it towed 45mi back to the shop.

Dont remember exactly what codes the shop pulled, but they were something like this:

TFT sensor malfunction
P0731 Incorrect First Gear Ratio

Hopefully extended warranty comes through... BTW truck only has 79k miles :/
