Default 2006 a/c clutch won't engage

I am new to the forum and have a question. Just bought my son a 2006 xlt 4x4. The a/c clutch will not engage. It was blowing the #11 fuse. Removed the diode as per another forum and the a/c worked/clutch engaged. Only tested briefly. Put the diode on an ohm meter and it was bad. Changed out, the fuse is now holding but the clutch will not engage. Any suggestions?

I'm almost sure that a diode can be put on backwards.

Diode will only seat correctly one way. won't let you install backwards. I checked everything again yesterday and decide, after reading another post, to lightly tap the clutch. I took off and cooled perfectly for 5-10 minutes, then the clutch kicked out and would not re-engage. I am thinking that either the clutch is bad and/or needs a shim removed or the system is low on freon. What do you guys think?

Problem solved. System was overcharged. Shop dumped and recharged.

Glad it was a somewhat simple fix!

Glad to hear your problem is solved. Off subject but I replaced my outside button for my doorbell in my house and the new one came with a diode so I was going off of that because I had to flip it around in order for it to work properly but anyways 😄

I truly appreciate the suggestion. I immediately double checked it.
