My brother asked me if I could install a remote start on his 2005 lxt. Just curious if these trucks have ignition lock out or if it just requires correct wiring. Like I'd the keys have a sensor in them or not. Thanks for any help

yes they have security, ford makes a factory remote start for this model that integrates into the security

Some alarm systems have a box that mimics the key, others you have to bury a key somewhere.

I used the following override in my Viper remote start:

Very easy to program and talks to the viper unit via data wires so less to cut and splice. Been working quite a while without a hiccup and does not require a key be left in it (although you need 2 keys to program it.) You can find these on amazon pretty inexepensive.
