Default 2005 F150 STX Questions

OK out there in Ford Forum Land...........

I know that STX is a trim package
What does STX stand for
ie, LE Limited Edition, SE Special Edition

I have a Super Sun Tach from my last truck
is there anyway to connect it to the OBD II port
and have it work, without frying the computer

Now let's not all answer at once, I'm only one guy
that's not really what you would call computer savvy.......

so type real slow

Forgive my stupidity, ignorance, or just plain overlookment, but I went through the 17 pages of your link, and did not find out how you installed an external tach....I did see your discussion on how you found that an FX4 instrament cluster can be used (basically plug and play) to replace the STX cluster.

I would like to add a tach to my 05 STX; not interested in adding the SCANGAUGE II at this time, nor do I want to exchange clusters.

Can you help?

ok, sorry for getting to you so late however i forgot about the post and have been deployed for a while now...

so your going to want to get a auto meter tach, 0-8k rpm, and the tach driver, follow the directions on the page and splice the tach driver reference into on of the ignition coils, this is i think the red/green wire for the coil, its about 9 months since i did it...i also feel its a great mod since i dont realy use my tuner to monitor much anymore....its about 200 bucks total and its pretty self explanitory...
