brake issues

Default brake issues

I have an 08 150 4x4 Lariat. I had a frt leveling kit installed & 305/55R20 Mickey Thompson tires a little over 25k miles & a year & half ago. Ever since the upgrade I have had major issues with brake vibration. The first time I didnt think anything of it. I had a local dealer resurface the front rotors & all was good. About 1500 miles go by & the vibration starts again only gets bad QUICK. So i took back to the dealer they resurfaced the frt rotors again but also resurfaced the rear this time as well explaining to me how bad they both were. Well once again about 3k miles has gone by & the vibration has started again. Not to bad yet but I know its only going to get worse. Problem now is the frt(for sure) are going to be to thin to resurface & poss the rear as well. Is the a recommended rotor to install when going to a bigger tire like I did? I have to feel that this is what is causing the issue as the truck had 45k miles on it when I replaced the tires & had never had one brake issue @ all & in the 20k miles since putting the tires on it has been an issue 3 times. Also the frt & rear pads have never been replaced...they both still have more than half pad so its not like I am wearing out pads & eating in the rotors....please help!!!! I am willing to spend the money but am getting tired of this happening every few thousand miles!!!

New rotors, stock should be just fine for that tire size. Yea the tires are heavier, but they aren't really oversized. there are lots of people running that tire size with no problem. New and resurfaced rotors are very easy to warp if they are not properly broken in. Go easy on the brakes for the first couple weeks. To me it just sounds like you are too heavy on brake useage, the only way rotors warp that quick is getting really hot from heavy useage. Your tires are balanced right aren't they? Cause if they aren't that can be mistaken for rotor warp sometimes if they are just slightly off.

first off to clarify rotors do not "warp" more info can be read here:

second, the reason you are having problems is that the new tires and rims have increased the overall weight of the vehicle thus requiring more braking pressure to stop the vehicle. with this extra braking effort you are essentially melting your brake pad material which is then being transfered to the rotors creating a high spot on the rotor surface. this high spot then translates into the vibration in the steering when applying the brakes and why turning the rotors seems to fix the problem for a short period of time.

the quick and easy solution is to turn the rotors again, if you have enough material left, and replace the brake pads with a quality after market product. I personally use Hawk LTS pads on my F-150 and if your interested I can quote you a price on those pads.

I would like a quote on the pads & rotors. Probably for frt & rear. I know the front are too thing to turn. Thanks for the info & look forward to the quote.
