Maybe remove the fx4 sticker if you want to go murdered out. some people like it, some don't.
I would recommend replacing all the bulbs with LED's (except for the headlights) Great upgrade IMO, so much brighter. Big 3 upgrade is another cheap and easy one.
Depends on what you all want to do! it becomes a money pit fast!

Before you spend more money on mods, check into all maintenance items. If all have been done properly - life is good.
If not, make a list and prioritize to get everything up to date.
Filters, liquids, lubricants, brakes, shocks and struts, plugs and COPs.
Truck is looking good - you will enjoy.
After the above, tuner should be high on your list.

As stated before, make sure sparkplugs have been replaced especially if you are around the 100k miles mark. They can be a bit of an issue on the 5.4L's. Tranny flush and all around fluid change (differentials, tranny, oil, coolant) is always a good idea after purchasing a new (used) vehicle. All the service records in the world still don't tell you what kind of person drove it before you.
Tuners/programers are run by a lot of us here on the forum. You can find a few dozen forum topics about them. Don't expect to see any real improvements in fuel economy, however you will notice a big difference when you put your foot down. For me, adding a PHP gryphon tuner really made the truck come alive. But, they are expensive to buy new. $400+ usually, though if you poke around the classified section here on the forum, a lot of guys that sell their trucks take out their programers and sell them on here. But to answer your question about what tuners do, they change the timing of spark, shift points, shift firmness, all sorts of things that can help better utilize the horsepower and torque your truck already creates.

To add to what was already answered about tuners, they make the truck more responsive with engine and trans tuning. They also make numerous parameters adjustable, give you access to temperatures, pressures, voltages, CEL's that you currently do not have.
As for cost, new may be $400+. Be patient and you can find used tuners in good condition for under $300 frequently. Look at this and other Ford truck forums, Ebay, Craigs List. I believe Bucko on this forum sells Edge and SCT.
I put an Edge Evo in my truck. Made it seem like a different vehicle.
Running a tuner does not mean you are a hot rodder. They do provide more power tho. Gas Mileage - possibly some more but don't plan on paying for the tuner via gas savings.
