Default 2005 5.4 pcv valve

I have located the valve, which looks as if it is pressed in. Is this the case? And if so, any tips on how to remove old one and replace new one?

It is part of the valve cover and the whole valve cover has to be replaced. If you squirt some carb cleaner in the hole and let it sit for a couple of minutes then reconnect and start the truck that will clean it out. You'll know your getting air flow through the PCV valve because when it sucks it out you'll get some smoke from the exhaust.
