2005 4x4 Wheels and Tires
I know this question has been asked a thousand times but one more time can't hurt. I found 2 different wheels that I think would look good on my dark gray 4x4 but am confused about whether they will fit or not.
Here's what i like:
Moto Metal MO951 Black - 17x9
XD Series XD797 Black - 17x9
Both have a backspace of 4.5 and an offset of -12mm. I'd like to put on either 285/70/17 or 305/65/17 tires (probably bfg's but am looking at nitto also).
I'm putting on a 2 1/2 aluminum leveling kit made by NCD (found on ebay for $89).
What i would like to know is if the backspace and offset will work. Will the wheels stick too far in/out? Will it affect the way the truck drives? Will it put additional stress on the truck causing pre-mature failure of parts?
Sorry for all the questions but the couple of places i've gone so far have confused me more than I already was and seemed to push things that they had a lot of, not what I like.
Thanks!

I did some digging (after asking the question of course...) and found a good explanation of what backspace and offset are and how they are related.
What I found is this. Let's say we have a 10-inch-wide wheel, then our center is at five inches. If the wheel has a 6-inch backspace, then the offset is positive and a 4-inch backspace would make the offset negative. A wheel that has a positive offset (or a backspace # that is greater than the center, the wheel will slide further into the wheel well to be mounted. Similarly, one with a negative offset (or backspace less than the center) will push further out, maybe even beyond the fenders.
I think I'll be ok with either wheel since i'm looking for the tires to extend slightly beyond the fenders and the negative offset should give me that...
