Because the 2v only has one place to read the cam position, the 3 valve has 5. We decided to cut off the remaining 4. If you do not do this, you will have a code/engine light, and the truck won't start very well....also just put my cam phasers locks in today. Almost ready to drop it into the truck.

Ok.... Like I said, you are locking out VCT, so why do you even worry about the other 5 positions? If you run the 3V PCM then yeah you have to tune that out of the computer. But if you run your current 2V PCM which only has a signal for one sensor then its not an issue. You aren't using VCT, so its not like you need another signal to the PCM for cam position.

Either way, running the 3V engine with a 2V PCM is requiring tuning regardless.

Yep, for sure. Now building a throttle body adapter to fit my 2v throttle body on the new intake. Everything is going smooth so far

Hello again, wondering if I should use the fuel rail off the 2v or modify the 3v one to fit the 05 fuel pressure regulator and fuel line, that will consist of welding aluminum and luckily I have someone locally that can do it cheap for me.
Thanks for the input!

Not sure what the 2v rail looks like, but the braided (hose) part of the 3v fuel rail can be cut and manipulated pretty easily without TIG welding.. You may need to adapt or buy the appropriate year FRPS to bolt up to that rail depending on its year .. The 04-05 FRPS is different than the 06+..

I'm not sure how far along you are in your motor swap at this point, but I need to ask.. Why not drop a 5.4 3v in your motor? More power, easier install, and you can also shut VCT off at the solenoids via tuning if the VCT system scares you....

Can you explain how to use the solenoids to delete the VCT?

Ok here's a update. Modified the fuel rail to fit the 05 FPS and built a throttle body adapter. Got all the wires connected and boom! Cranked the truck for about two seconds then she came to life, no codes or sputters. Going to take it for a test drive tomorrow.

That's awesome thanks for updating! A lot of people say they are going to swap but then never do, I think that's why most were discouraging at the beginning. Which I would have been too, but good for you for following through with your plans!

Thanks! The only thing left to do is to line up my exhaust manifolds to the y pipe, I need to take it to the local shop to have that done, hopefully the cops don't stop me. Hehe
