Default 2004 Won't start after fill up

My 2004 f150 ( non heritage) will not start after fill up unless I hold the gas pedal to the floor until it finally turns over. It only give me trouble when I put gas in, runs perfect and start every time, other than fill up...and it doesn't matter how much gas is added.

The fuel pump is good, fuel filter has been change multiple times, checked lines, changed the fuel pump driver module, checked inertia switch, have had the tank down several times to make sure all the line were connected properly...at a loss and totally disguised. Next stage is to keep replacing emission sensors because I'm wondering if isn't a vapor pressure problem because it only does it when you add fuel to the tank. Problem with that is each of those sensors are well over $100 each just to find out it wasn't the right solution.

Any ideas??

Default Won't start after fill-up...

Had the exact problem last month on my '10 5.4 F150. Happened out of the blue while on vacation. Filled up, then acted like it was flooded. Kept cranking on it til it started then it ran perfect until I filled up again. Same thing. Turned out to be the fuel(vapor) purge valve. Mine was in warranty, but the part can be purchased from Amazon for around $50. Easy to install. Located behind the throttle body, easy to access.
Hope this helps.

I tried the gas cap, I borrowed someone else's with the exact same truck that was running fine and still did it.

The purge valve was on my list, but wasn't sure if it was the problem or the fuel tank pressure sensor....think I will go ahead and try the purge valve next. Thank you

Default Had same problem with my 04

It was the gas cap. Get a new one from the dealer or wherever. Mine still did it the next couple fill ups, but then started normally and worked fine. It's only around $20 for a new cap.

Couldn't blame mine on the gas cap because the 2010 doesn't have a gas cap. Purge valve fixed mine. No more problems.
