Question 2004 Speedo

First visit to the forum and I bring a question with me.

On at least four separate occasion over the last nine months the speedometer is dead for about 10 minutes. After said ten minutes it starts working normally again. All the other gauges work normally during the speedos nap time. I did a search of the forum, but I didn't see anything like this. Any ideas?

Welcome to the site man!!! I've never heard of this before but NGM is your answer. He knows these trucks better than anyone I've talked to. If he doesn't reply to this thread send him a PM. His username is NGM. I know he'll be able to answer your question.

Default Same Problem!

My 04 XLT is doing the same thing! Took it to the dealer for tests and they said it needed a new cluster! I can't believe that is the problem....any one heard any updates on this?

Thanks,
Bo

I had this problem with another truck that i own, and the dealer told me the same thing. But i found out it was more of a charging system problem than anything. i changed the alt and battery and never had the prob again. don't know if this helps but thought i would share anyways.

Thanks man, I have to go pick her up at 5 today do I will run that idea past them and see what they think. Could I just try changing that battery tonight and see what happens. The truck has 60K and could probably use a new one anyway. What do you think?

ok, well it was in the speedo itself. I had them put a new one in and no problems. The $311 did suck but at least now I won't get a ticket! Hope this may help people in the future.

311?? Thats it? They are having some problems with these then. That is a way low cost.

Yep, I look back at my ticket and it was $311. Is that a great deal or something? Not to sound rude but I would have the damn thing just worked in the first place. I am glad to have it back, just got my new sportster 5 installed and love! The worst part was being with out my Sirius for a week
