Default 2004 Roush Side Exit "Off Road" Exhaust

I imagined that this would be a bit louder that it is, but unfortunately that is not the case. I was wondering if there are ways to make it louder overall. I love the exhaust overall and it sounds amazing, but would just like it a bit louder. Event he other day my buddy told me it doesn't sound like I have an exhaust, while it was sitting there idling.

Also, this seems like a stupid question to me, but I'm gonna throw it out there. Would there be a huge difference in the loudness factor between the roush side exit and dual rear exit?

Thanks!

I would imagine your buddy is messin with ya, the Roush stuff is supposed to be pretty good. Anything that isn't the stock muffler, or smaller than the stock muffler is going to be louder than stock.

I personally prefer dual exhaust, I've always liked the look and the surrounding sound it provides(dual out behind rear wheels at 45 degrees, slant cut tips), but for some reason I went to a SI/SO muffler and got rid of my duals.(will be going back though)

As far as your sound, you could change how the exhaust is dumped, a turn down underneath the cab would make it louder for you to hear when your driving, or a turndown under the bed. You could always change the muffler tip itself, different tips provide different resonance, it may change the sound to something you prefer more, or a better tone while idling.

I'm not gonna lie, it's a good exhaust. But the other night while talking to him while it was idling, even from the outside it was quite and not much louder than stock. I'll try and take a video with my phone and see if it will pick up the noise. Idk if you are familiar with the exhaust, but its a SI/DO and exits before the rear tire.

Edit; Would it be due to the fact that the piping is in fact 3"?

I own the side exit off road and it wasn't loud enough. I replaced my two cats with magnaflow high flow cats and replaced the crushed midpipe with a straight peice and boom! Sounds amazing

Also, would it be possible to make this a true dual set up without buying another muffler?

true duals would require 2 mufflers

No video. And if I were to do it over I would run true duals side exits with a x pipe and high flows
