Default 2004 Lariat Radio Install

Has anyone successfully installed a aftermarket radio and kept the factory DVD functional without leaving the factory HU powered up behind the dash?

Crutch field has an adapter that plugs in behind the radio and communicates with the CANBUS system to allow it to work. Or at least I believe that's how I read it earlier today.

Try this one. I think this is what you are looking for.

And maybe this one. However they may both do the same. Just depends which radio you have.

If not call Crutchfield and explain what you are trying to do and maybe they can help you out
