2004 FX4 Brake Noise
So I've searched the forum for a similar issue to mine and can't find one. I just replaced the driver side half shaft and wheel bearing and now my brakes are making noise. The noise happens when the brakes are applied and follows the rotation of the wheel (almost like a warped rotor). I swapped the rotor to the passenger side and the drivers side still makes the noise. Definitely not the rotor. At speeds above 35 you can feel vibration in the wheel with rotation and it gets worse with left hand turns. It kind of goes away with right hand turns. I feel like it must have something to do with the new half shaft or the wheel bearing. If anyone has any similar experience please let me know.

When I bought my truck earlier this year I took it into the dealership to have it checked out and had both of my rear wheel bearings replaced also. I noticed a few months later that I have a similar situation. At very low speeds when coming to a stop, I hear a metal-on-metal noise that is a low pitch. The best I can describe it is like opening a really old creaky gate with rusted hinges that follows rotation of the wheels, not like the high pitch brake squeal. Haven't investigated it yet. I can only hear it at low speed, windows down and no AC or music, thats how quiet it is. Mines a 04 also. Lmk if you find anything out.

Check that caliper for a sticking piston, and recheck the bearings. I suspect you don't have the right set or improper adjustment.

I had the same...went away with right turn of the wheel...it was my driver side bearing. They cannot be adjusted, they just slide in. They are pretty easy to change...I did not even use anything but hand tools. It is only a matter of taking off the brake caliper, removing the rotor, and three bolts hold the bearing on...too easy.
