Default 2004 F150 Lariat Cruise Control

My cruise control is not working and I think that it probably the brake/cruise control deactivation switch. I am looking for it's location. It is not on the top front or bottom of the master cylinder. I believe the BPP is inside connected to the brake pedal but I don't think this is the switch I'm looking for. I have checked the high brake light and it works and there are no LEDS in place. I've read that this may cause the CC not to work. From what I've found so far, I think it is an SW6350 switch, but I can't find it location. Any assistance with this problem will be appreciated.

Did you replace the 3rd brake light bulb? Cheap and it could be making enough of a connection that when power is put through it will make a connection and light up but without the current the connection is lost? Might be worth a try for a few dollars and 5 minutes?

The switch is located behind the brake pedal. It's a black plastic piece that "overlaps" the linkage between the brake pedal arm, and the rod that goes through the firewall.

Here you go:

Thanks for the replies and I will change that switch. I also noticed this morning that I can shift out of Park without touching the brake. Is this problem also related to this switch or is there a separate interlock switch located in the floor shifter?

When my switch went bad, I could shift without touching the brake as well, when I changed it, I have to hit the brake to shift out of Park. Also, I had to do the part change 2 times because the first part I got from the autoparts store was bad and wouldn't let me shift out of Park at all. Good luck, easy change out of parts.

If you can shift out of park without pressing the brake, the problem is not the CC deactivation switch, it's the interlock switch in the floor shifter. I had the exact same problem. Very easy to change out

I changed out the brake pedal switch and nothing changed. I did note on the original switch there were 6 terminals and on the new one only 4. The 2 inner ones were missing. However, on the connector, I see only 4 wires with nothing to the inner 2 terminals.

I would guess my next move is to order the interlock switch in the console like a couple of you suggested. Most that I see are in the $140 range. Any other suggestions?

That's about what I paid for mine. Once you replace it you'll be back to cruisin' on the highway

I live in a small town so I had to order it over the internet. I found one for 149.99 with a 20.00 discount coupon, so about $130. I'll report back in a few days after I get it and install it. Thanks for the help. This seems like a great forum.
