2004 F150 airbag code 42 sensor location?

2004 F150 airbag code 42 sensor location?
I have a 2004 F150 with airbag code 42. story has it its the crash sensor . I did read to disconnect the neg side of battery for 5 mins prior to replacing it or kaboom....I might try and unplug the sensor and spray some contact cleaner on both ends befor I replace the sensor. Any Thoughts?

Is replacing the crash sensor in front of the radiator a diy? does the airbag system have to be reset of does it clear itself out?

Did you get your answer?
I replaced the sensor on my 07 F150 FX4 and the light is still blinking code 42. I was thinking maybe I need to disconnect the battery to reset the code as I did not disconnect it when I replaced the sensor. Just wondering if you found out about resetting the code or not?

Pinpoint Test L: LFC 42/DTC B2296 — Restraint System — Impact Sensor Fault
Normal Operation
The front impact severity sensor provides data to the restraints control module (RCM) for use in calculating impact severity. This is accomplished using various electrical and electromechanical sensor(s) throughout the vehicle. Refer to Air Bag and Safety Belt Pretensioner Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) in this section.
The RCM checks all of the impact sensor circuits for faults. If the RCM detects one of the following faults on any of the impact sensor circuits, it will store diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B2296 in memory and flash lamp fault code (LFC) 42 (or higher priority code if one exists) on the air bag indicator.
Fault Conditions
The RCM monitors for the following fault conditions:

- High resistance or circuit open

- damaged wiring, terminals or connectors.
- a faulty impact sensor.
- incorrect sensor mounting.
- a faulted RCM.

So when you say it stores the code, does that mean I need to have it reset (by disconnecting the battery) before I can find out if my fix worked or not? Or should the light just go off?

Mine is still blinking code 42. I did the battery trick . the only thing it did was turn my JVC head unit stupid. Is there a time frame to keep the battery unplugged? Let me know how the battery unplug trick works. I really dont want to go to a Ford dealership and cash in my gold bars.
