Default 2004 F150 5.4L 4WD P0430 code

So I was driving home tonight in rush hour traffic cruising about 55 and I got a check engine light. No change in performance, no misfire, no rough idle, nothing but the light. Went by AutoZone to have the code read, turns out P0430 bank 2 cat issue. Any ideas what can cause this out of the blue? Truck still runs great with no issues. I am going to reset with my code scanner and see if it returns just need a little advice on next step if it comes back. I have been fueling up at the same place for a couple of weeks and it has dropped down to E a couple of times, but when the low fuel message comes on, I usually go get fuel right away. Could I just need to put some seafoam in the gas tank to try to clean the injectors some and it will help? Any advice is appreciated.

I would clear it and just see if it comes back. Could've been just a hiccup.

You may need to replace the downstream O2 sensor. If that doesn't work, then have the cat's tested.

Thanks for the response guys, I'm hoping its just a hiccup. I cleared the code last night and so far today its still running great and no codes. More to follow after I drive in rush hour traffic going home tonight. Thanks all.

Tom, just had the same code pop up in my truck. How'd the seafoam work out?

Well I seafoamed it, ran it till I needed gas again, put the other half bottle of seafoam in and so far, the code has not come back. Try the seafoam or at least some type of cleaner. Its worth trying before you put any extra money into it. Good luck.

I seafoamed it 2 days ago and it took 30 miles of driving for the code to pop back up. Looks like I'm taking her into the dealership.

Sorry to hear that, how did you clear the code? I used a pocket scanner to clear mine. If you just used the battery disconnect to clear yours, I would try a scanner first before you go to the dealership.
Good luck let us know the outcome.

I did just disconnect the battery... Where can I get a pocket scanner and how much do they run? I'd like to think that it's not anything bad and just an o2 sensor. But I don't want to drop extra coin if I don't have to.

I think that I picked mine up at autozone, I've had it for a couple of years. Its just a little yellow one that says pocket scanner, works great though.
