2004 F150 4x4 Crew with Heater Control Problem - Defrost - Vacuum?
Hello guys... I have a 2004 Ford F150 Crew with a little problem.
I have been reading on the forums (and searching) and have found the defrost vent position is the default position. So if you have a vacuum leak the vent will default to defrost because that position doesn't require vacuum.
When I start my truck and turn to floor or center/floor the air usually comes out of the defrost vent. After driving the truck for about 3 or 4 minutes the problem corrects itself and the vent position will suddenly match what is on the thermostat control dials (I have the three manual round dials).
Just wondering where you guys would look first?
How can I narrow it down between vacuum lines, check valves, or a vacuum reservoir?
Additional information:
I don't hear any weird noises, and my 4WD works fine.
Thank you!
James

Very likely this is your problem. There is foam on both sides of the blend door and it starts to fall off and jam the doors.

Thank you guys for the replies! I will try and get this done ASAP.
Just installed mudflaps today, and working on storing my hitch "stinger" behind the rear bumper... once I get that worked out I hope to get this done
