Default 2004 F-150 XLT for $1000???

I just recently found a 2004 F-150 XLT two tone, maroon with grey rockers. The transmission is blown but the guy only want's a $1000 bucks for the truck. I was thinking about buying it and parting it out, it looks to be in fairly good shape other than the rear passenger side door is smashed in. The motor alone has to be worth at least $1500 depending on the mileage...thoughts anyone? Just wondering if this would be a worthy $1000 investment, as my 2006 F-150 FX4 SCAB only has 92,000 miles on it, just thought it would be handy to have a parts truck laying around.

If all that's wrong is the tranny and the door then I would definitely buy it, just go over it again and make sure that's all that's wrong with it. Does it start up ?

not sure if it runs right now or not....I have to call the guy to find out. Hopefully the motor is still good. If I can buy the truck I wanna pull the motor and redo the manifolds, plugs and timing components with the motor on a table. Will be MUCH easier to work on that way

If most of the truck is in good condition and the motor runs you could make a good bit of money, IMO
