Default 2004 5.4 Triton Question

I'm in the process of buying a 2004 5.4 liter 4x4. There has been much talk about the 2004 5.4's and the problems that were encountered(i.e. spark plugs breaking or popping out and damaging the aluminum heads). I'm just wondering for worst case scenario in the event I have to buy a new motor. Where should I buy it and did Ford correct the problem from the old 5.4's. If so, what was their solution I would hate to buy a new problem.

Well if your in fact serious about buying it,tell them to change out the plugs and put one piece plugs in and to use antisieze. The only way if you damage your heads if you rev it up to red-line allot and keep it their,so the heads wont be a problem.Just tell them straight out,i will by the truck from you guys if you change the plugs out. Most stealer-ships are doing this change out now cause the plugs breaking/popping are a known problem now to consumers and now telling stealer-ships to change the plugs out for them if they were to purchase and the stealer-ships will now cause they need the sales.Ford corrected the problem in the late 08 models.

Knowledge is everything...I don't think most people buying used F150's are aware of this though...

i would just buy a used head from a yard, have it checked out at a speed shop and have both done at the same time.
