Default 2004 5.4 Triton F-150 Bank 2 timing issue

Hey Guys... Great forum here. I've spent the last 2 days reading through old and current posts trying to determine what my issue may be on my 175,000 mile 2004 F-150. I'd really love some comments/thoughts?

Issues: Ran fine last Friday. Saturday cranked right up and idled like $h&t. Barely kept running. CEL code of PO345 Bank 2. To be safe I replaced MAF Sensor, Cam Position Sensors, and VCT Solenoids. Same issue. Same Code. If I unplug the Bank 2 Cam Position Sensor wire... runs fine. Plug wire back in it stumbles and barely idles.

Reading posts I see similar issues resulting from (1) chaffed CPS wires which I checked... (2) worn timing chain guides/tensioners, or (3) plugged oil passage in the head preventing the cam phaser from operating.

But if the issue was (2) or (3) above.. why does disconnecting the CPS wire on bank 2 fix the issue? Does disconnect of the CPS on bank 2 somehow over ride what the Phaser on bank 2 is telling the "computer" to do?

Any ideas why unplugging the CPS fixes the issue? Will driving with CPS unplugged cause later major issues? What ya think?

Thanks guys...

Colby
