2004 5.4 need help to pass e test
OK so my son has an 2004 f150 he just bought it needs to pass the obd2 emissions test to be put on the road . The problem is it keeps getting the p0022 code causing the engine light to come on . I have changed the vct and tried using 10w30 but still no luck. The thing is the trucks runs like a dreem and he don't have the $ to put into changing timing chain and so on.
In Ontario we are aloud to have 1 of the scencer's not active so is there a way to stick this thing or make that scencer inactive for the test ?

I'm definitely no expert (and I've never lived in Canada) but this web page seems to indicate that the OBD2 test only checks for emissions related faults. If that's truly the case then a P0022 shouldn't be an issue. Again, I'm no expert, maybe someone else with a little more experience (or someone that actually lives in Canada) can confirm. Good luck man!

Check the wires to the VCT solenoid

Here in USA you can't have a check engine light on to pass, it's the first thing they look at.
I think you will have to have it fixed and hope it's just the sensor, if your cam is over retarding it will be more in depth of a fix but you need it repaired.
If it is you should be having idle/ performance issues. If you don't have issues, try replacing the sensor.
There is no way to cheat it as they check for cel operation at time of test.
Good luck.
